The Quality of a Diamond: Cut, Colour, Clarity, Carat-weight

The best colour for a diamond is no colour. The differences between one grade and another are very subtle, as can be seen by the number of grades within any one category. Colour grading scale from totally colourless to light yellow. Also rare and valuable are diamonds with a pure colour such as pink, blue and even green. Such stones are called "fancies".
